Monster from the East & other animations from this morning
G'day all!
I managed a few animations & images from this morning under fairly ordinary conditions, but what the heck it was clear!
The first 30 minute animation shows AR3182 that has now emerged over the Eastern Limb. It was captured UT 2023/01/05 22:07 to 22:37. That's 807am to 837 Friday morning for me. Exposure was 7ms & gain at 130 @ 129fps using a ZWO432MM with my 80mm Lunt single stack.
please click on the image to view on my Astrobin page:
This next one was 65 minutes of the NW limb Proms taken UT 2023/01/05 20:24 to 21:29. Local time 624am to 729am. Exposure was 6ms & gain set at 350.
And a couple of happy snaps to finish off.
Thanks for looking.
Peter

You were just one hour off the X-class Peter if only you had kept going for another hour that's solar viewing for you
These are just fabulous though

Re: Monster from the East & other animations from this morning
Thanks Alexandra,
Crikey! I saw that on Learmonth GONG while watching Lyle, Lyle crocodile with my grand daughters at the movies later that morning! Oh well I did 3 hours this morning before cloud and looks like I probably didn't catch anything!
Best,
Peter

Re: Monster from the East & other animations from this morning
Great views! I like the picture of the setup and the use of reflectors around the camera and the tuner. Have you tried one on the sunward side of the mount? I bet it gets pretty hot!

Re: Monster from the East & other animations from this morning
There's another " brewing pot " behind this one. It's put off several M-class flares today and SDO animations show a lot of activity there at the SE limb.

Re: Monster from the East & other animations from this morning
Thanks Mark and thanks for noticing the Sunward side. I had forgotten to attach that as the temps had been lower than expcted and I forgot to put it on. Definitely warming now se here it is on this morning.marktownley wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 10:11 am Great views! Re: Monster from the East & other animations from this morning
Yup something big coming over that South East limb. I am trying a 3-4hour animation under meh seeing. Will see if we catch anything or just fill the 1tb SSD!DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 5:47 pm There's another " brewing pot " behind this one.
