Re: Close up images from 8 January 2023
Really! These images are so good and detailed, that no need to try to make them "better" doing inversion.
I hope (and I wish) that the seeing will be friendly to Clare & Peter as it was yesterday.

Re: Close up images from 8 January 2023
Thanks Alexandra
Cabling as follows.
1/ Power to the Quark
2/ Primary camera cable to the ASI174MM
3/ Power to the peltier cooler on the ASI174MM
4/ Secondary camera cable to the guide camera ASI120MM mini
5/ ST4 cable between the guide camera and the mount
We could be a little neater with some better cable management, but as we have to swap quite a deal from one configuration to another it does get a bit messy.

The scope is sold in Australia as a Kson A102G.
It is an achromatic air spaced doublet 102mm refractor. The glass is nothing special, pretty much a Chinese version of BK7.
As we are only asking the scope to focus on a single wavelength, CA is not an issue.
Being a fairly basic scope it was a good price. The build is of good quality. The focuser, although only a rack and pinion, is robust and carries the weight of the accessories quite well.

I have a Celestron 102 achromat. F9.8. It does very well with a wedge and 540nm filter. It’s probably very similar to yours.

Yes, they sound very similar except we didn't add that the Kson is a little faster at F7.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 10:09 pmAverton wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 11:30 amThanks James!DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 6:41 pm Wonderfully done Clare & Peter!!! I like the white tube of yours better. Black like mine is can be too susceptible to daytime heating! Mine being a longer F-ratio probably has a lower amount of CA but since we usually use narrowband filters that isn't an issue as you have previously stated.
