The Sun through clouds today 22 January 2023

Post by Averton »

The day started off very cloudy but by the afternoon looked to be clearing so we set up to take some images. All was good except it wasn't that clear at all. Lots of high cloud through most of our images. Still you take what you can get.

Clare & Peter, it's always a pleasure to see your FD images.
Nice detailed close-up too.

Those came out great! Right now I have about 6" of snow and just cleared the driveway so I don't have to move as much snow later when it stops! Pretty though!

Thanks Maurits and Warren.

Thankfully in Australia we only have snow at holiday locations that you can even more thankfully choose not to go to. :)

A fine set of images Clare and Peter. We now await what's coming over that Eastern horizon.

Clare & Peter,
I really love the 540nm closeup of AR13190 and AR13194. The detail in those is awesome, especially in the big spot of AR13190. The individual granules in the photosphere can be seen too! You did well through those clouds.

Nice images, Clare and Peter. It’s tough when the conditions seem to conspire against you. Often these thin high level thin clouds just don’t seem to move from the Sun, despite the surrounding blue….so frustrating.

Thanks Peter, James and Stu :)

You're right Stu, those clouds just hung round the sun like bees to honey!

Good shots Clare and Peter! The 393 disk at 50mm comes out a lot cleaner.
