M-Class flares in the departing AR13190

Post by DeepSolar64 »

This morning early before sunrise I got up to use the bathroom and noticed an alert on SpaceWeatherLive of an M4.65 flare that had popped off in the departing AR13190 very near the SW limb. I saved a few images from GONG and the SDO and logged into Slooh for a realtime view. While I had missed the flare itself on Slooh I was able to see the post-flare loops that it generated. I also noticed on the SDO AIA171-304 composite Helioviewer image that another flare appears to be taking place at AR13192 in the NW quadrant as the M4.65 flare is taking place in AR13190 south of it. Hours later, just after local noon I again get an alert on SWL showing yet another M-class flare associated with AR13190. This one is an M1.4 class. Teide Observatory at this time is nearing sunset and the Lunt 60 instrument of Slooh has already closed up for the day. I did get a decent limb prom capture before it did though.

I have no report from my own instruments. I am under rainy skies today.

James

P.S. You Aussies keep an eye out this evening!!

Yeah. It kept me up for about a half hour longer than I had intended though. I had no trouble getting back to sleep though with Lily curled up sofly purring behind my knees.

AR13192 at the NW limb put off an M-class flare later this evening.

You are welcome Maurits. AR13190 has now rounded the limb, out of sight.
