Forster's Tern dive sequence 3/1/2023

Post by rigel123 »

Not being able to image the sun as much allows me to go back after my second favorite subjects..Birds! The Forster's Terns were busy diving for fish in the tide pools so I made up a sequence from a number of shots.

These are incredible :hamster: :hamster: :bow it looks like maybe he is still in winter plumage?

We get mainly Arctic and Common Terns here in the UK, with the odd Sandwich, Little and Roseate Tern. The best place here is the Farne Islands to see the Arctic Terns, they are amazing little birds. I have so many images of close ups (2 ft) and their babies.

Wow! Warren, how beautiful! Looking at your photos, I caught myself thinking that I miss liquid, not frozen water so much.

Thanks all, glad you enjoy them! Yes, Alexandra, when May comes around they have the full black cap. I saw Arctic Terns when I visited Maine. We had to keep one hand on top of our heads or they would dive at us and peck us bloody protecting their nesting grounds!

I hope you get a thaw soon Ivan!
