Real quick FD CaK 3/18/2023

Post by rigel123 »

Made a quick 40mm mask for my 80mm Orion ED80T to see how that worked out and discovered two things. First, my eyes aren't as bad as I thought as I was able to make out the disk visually and think if I put a hood over my head and let my eyes adapt I might even see some details! Secondly, yep, I'll look into making a decent 40mm mask rather than the cardboard one I slapped together with construction board and duck tape as details looked better. I'm sure that with better seeing and not rushing focus that the image can get quite a bit better as well. Lunt BF1200/ASI174MM

The hole in the clouds didn't last long but I was able to catch a full disk. :)

Nice details Warren! I need to try myself too next time if I can see anything with my Lunt CaK module. I hope that new sunspot would bring more fun to see.

Very nice Warren. The image will certainly be sampled better with that camera and an aperture mask.

It is always worth a try to see Calcium K, it's a beautiful disc and I am sure many more people could see it if they only tried :)

And yet, I ended up setting up and captured about 2 hours worth at 24F. Hope to process them tomorrow!

Thanks Arne and Alexandra!
