March 29 2029 Imaging Session.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today I did a short imaging session just before 16:00 UTC. The skies are clear but the seeing is below average. The temperature is a much cooler 51F ( 10.5C )

Today my goal was to image the prominences on the northwest limb and to image a full disc 540nm photosphere. Though successful, my images are held back in sharpness by the seeing. A C-Class flare occurred in the SW quadrant of the Sun just after I came in from imaging. Figures huh..We also had an X1.27 Flare back in the wee hours at 02:54UTC in one of the active regions nearing the SE limb, probably the one that would spawn the later C-Class flare.

My images were done using the Orion70 at 540nm and the Coronado SMII90 in SingleStack at 656.28nm. PGR Grasshopper camera on a MacOS High Sierra MacBook Pro running ASTRO IIDC and edited in GIMP. The Slooh Lunt 60 was used for a single image as well.

James

I have wondered where you have been and have missed your images. You do some of the best ones here. Hopefully you will have a break in the cloud cover, soon.

Nice images, James, in less than favourable conditions.

These came out really well, James, even if the conditions were not great. Well done !

Thanks. Seeing is like clouds. It seems to know when you are imaging. 🙁
