3.4.2023: first Cak imaging test + OIII

Post by Dennis »

Hi,
finally not cloudy anymore and i managed to do some cak imaging with my Lunt B1200 module erf mod on the triband c9.25.
As expected nothing burned down and vignetting of the 12mm cak filter was managed with a barlow afterward. Seeing was not up to the magnification but at least i could test the setup.
So far this is my first cak image edit, im looking forward for more sun and improving tests this week.
Added a OIII image of the same area (seeing also here compromized).

CaK: 30 best of 1630, 9ms exposures, gain@18
OIII: 70 best of 2200, 9ms exposures, gain@8

That is a pretty impressive result for Ca II K with C9.25!

Would you mind sharing what kind of setup you used in detail? I have so far had issues getting enough light through Altair Astro 115mm Triband D-ERF.

Thanks, it is not your D-ERF, its the 2 ERFs of the lunt cak module that dim it down (made for visual use). I removed those and put my Antlia 393nm (@f/20) filter in stead of them. I do not recommend this without a warning though since you could damage the Antlia, dependent of how much Energy you get on it passed by your D-ERF. For my setup it worked last year until now with no problems, so i just tried it out.
