The software effectively does a de-rotation in order to circularise the image. This means there would not be a problem for single scans but could be an issue if to try to stack multiple images (depending on whether the stacking software can deal with minor rotations).
Hi Doug,

Thanks and that is exactly also what I thought as stacking of several images does mean a longer time span between first and last video.

What will be the Zoom link for this? I've had a few people ask me already.

Unfortunately something has come up which means we won't be able to make the early morning meeting tomorrow. Looking forward to watching the recording. Hope it all goes well :)

Re: Lunt 60 MT

Post by moe21 »

Hello, I apologize if I am not in the right place to ask my question as this is my first forum sign up anywhere. I have recently purchased a Lunt 60 MT single etalon directly from lunt , with B1200 and noticed a very small chip inside the objective. My question is this : Can the objective alone be replaced on the scope or does the whole scope need to be replaced. My concern is that if the objective alone be replaced by another, will that effect the scope seeing ? What is the recommendation, replace the entire scope ? or just the objective . Thank you

Hi Alexandra and Doug,

Great meeting and I learned a lot which made overthink if I keep SHG'ing or not and I came to the conclusion that YES, I will continue with the SHG imaging.

Very very interesting ... :bow

Hi Moe21,
A very warm and sunny welcome, you need to go to the top left of the main forum and click 'New Topic' and copy and paste your message on that. That way you will find your question won't get lost within this thread. Not to worry, I can help you create a new post if you struggle.

Kind regards
Alexandra

Thanks again for the presentation it was brilliant. When I looked into getting a Sol’Ex last year, I was put off by the need to print/buy the parts and build it. Did I hear you say that it’s possible to buy one which has already been constructed? I’d definitely be up for that! I already have a SW Evostar 80, ASI178MM & ASI183MM.

Hi Nic,

That is half the joy. I would say buy the printed parts, buy the optical Sol'Ex kit and assemble it your self and adjust it. This will make you understand better what is involved in a Spectroheliograph.

IMHO

Thanks for all those who joined in. I attach a slightly edited version of the slides which I presented. The links to various websites should work and there are notes on some of the slides that fill in some details.
