Hi,
I wounding what is the best (easier) way to use auto guiding software/hardware to track the Sun when imaging .
Any suggestion?
Thanks!
John

Re: Guiding Solution
Hinode guider works with a goto mount, easy maybe not cheap!

Re: Guiding Solution
I have a Hinode too.
However, I find I don't use it any more. Just make sure the mount is polar aligned half decently and you will find this fine in 99% of cases, it's only when you go to extreme focal lengths and doing time lapses that guiding errors can be a pain.

Re: Guiding Solution
Hello Mark,
Have you tried the Hinode with the Hat 8 ? Just wondering if the guiding accuracy is enough for such a focal length.

Re: Guiding Solution
Hinode here as well, and only use it doing captures for animations so I don’t have to babysit the scope. It’s also good for outlook sessions. For still images decent alignment is all you need.

See also this thread for some software solutions (I use autoguiding via the main camera for time lapses).

Re: Guiding Solution
I have, but don't bother with it (the hinode) - found it fine with the HaT8, tracks just fine on my eq6, and that includes time lapse.christian viladrich wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:03 am Hello Mark,

Re: Guiding Solution
Thanks! looks like the ideas of 'Solar guiding using ordinary guide scope' by Averton is one of the great solution.GreatAttractor wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:53 am See also this thread for some software solutions (I use autoguiding via the main camera for time lapses).
