May 21 2023 WL PhotoSphere.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today while at my dad's place near Lowndesville S.C. I got a quick view of the Sun through thin clouds around 16:45 UTC. Due to the clouds dimming the image I could not use high magnification. The skies were almost overcast and the seeing is hard to ascertain. The temperature was a warm 74F ( 23.3C ). I am posting late after my arrival back home to Edneyville N.C.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x. ( WLC )
AR13313-11-14 is seen as a line of spots and pores in the NE quadrant. AR13313 shows a single structured spot. AR13311 shows two. AR13314 shows one. The rest are small spots and pores. The NW quadrant shows AR13305 as a spot and a pore and just east of it AR13308 is seen as a small spot and two difficult pores.

The large spot of AR13310 in the SE Quadrant is very easy to see even through these clouds. It shows an elongated dark umbra within it's lighter penumbra. A small spot is seen touching it to its east. AR13312 to the ESE can be seen as a small diffuse spot. I have a hard time seeing them clearly through the clouds good enough to resolve them well. Especially at this low magnification. Images show them resolved into component pores. Faculae are hard to see through the clouds. I see nothing in the SW quadrant. I see no granulation.

Carpe Noctem!

James
