"A sunspot four times the size of the Earth is making its way across the Sun at the moment. The spot is so large you can see it without a telescope, though of course you should use protective equipment."
Sunspot AR3310, bottom right, should be visible without magnification.

Anyone tried observing this without telescope or binoculars? did you look at it directly with solar glasses or other methods (projection, reflection on water...)?

I haven't tried just a filter but I am sure it's easily visible at 1x from past experience. It's sizable in my Lunt 8x32s.
