Sun in Whitelight 26th May 2023

Post by steveward53 »

Possibly the worst seeing I've ever encountered , I was just about to pull the trigger on a 152/1200 to up my game a little but as things are it'd be a complete waste of cash so I'm going to stick at 100mm for the foreseeable ...

Managed to scrape a few frames together from the mush on a day I'd put aside for a good long session , best laid plans and all that ... ;)

Thanks Warren ,

Looks OK but it was a struggle to find anything worth stacking , the ones I used today I'd have binned without a second thought yesterday ...

Great outcome considering what you had to work with Steve.
We have come to the same conclusion, that spending any more money is a total waste unless we change address as well.
Solar imaging is a fickle and frustrating game!

I like the idea of a 127 to 152mm refractor also but like you, my local seeing would limit its use. A can only optimally use my Celestron 102 with luck 20 percent of the time. The Orion70, Astro-Tech AT72EDII and Coronado 60 handle the seeing much better than the Coronado 90 and C102 do.

Nice disk Steve! I know what you mean about the seeing, I certainly can't use 152mm all the time.
