May 31 2023. 8x32 SUNoculars.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today around 16:48 I finally got a view of the Sun using my WL 8x32 Lunt solar binoculars through and between clouds. The temperature is 68F.

AR13320 is visible as a tiny spot in the NE quadrant. It looks like the pros have moved that number yet again! AR13318 can be seen as two spots in the NW quadrant. It’s westernmost spot is difficult to see.

AR13315 is two easy to see spots, side by side, in the SW quadrant. East of AR13315 lies AR13319. I see it as two spots. AR13321 is seen as a single spot in the SE quadrant.

I am having internet 🛜 issues which have been common lately and cannot get online with my computers. I have a new internet provider which sucks! Our previous one was quite good. The company was bought out. So it’s the phone today.

Carpe Lumen!!

James.

Thanks for a solar binoculars post! I would read more about what people can see from binoculars and include pictures if possible.

I actually do quite a bit of posting of my visual observations through my little Lunt binos. They do surprisingly well at showing spot groups. 8x is strong enough to show the groups and the binos are low enough in magnification to be hand held, though bracing them against a solid surface does help me see smaller spots. Any more magnification would require a tripod. Lunt also sells a 6x30 set.

James.

Thanks for the report James. I got some views in with the sunoculars yesterday (1st June) briefly before the clouds returned. Looks like it is brightening up a bit this morning so I may be luckyt with the sunoculars today. No chance of scopes, we have t0 fill the boat up with fuel this morning before a three hour cruise before a meal at one of our regular curry houses, where we are mooring later today is in a cutting with hight sides. Are moving out early tomorrow morning to open fields so hopefuly get some scopes out over the weekend. I want to try a WL shot through the SV50...

Happy Friday!
