My DS Solarscope 70 should hopefully arrive in the next couple weeks. Having only experienced a SS PST and a quark, I have been reading Solarchat advice given to people new to a double stack with great interest.
I have tuning questions specific to the Solarscope. Once you have it tuned (I expect it to take a while to master it) does the tuning vary much between sessions? How much do you need to turn the tuning wheel (just a tiny tweak of a few degrees or a significant turn on the wheel)? and do you need to retune it again within say an hour of starting to observe?
Would be grateful to have either a typed reply or hear it in person at the meeting later, whichever is more convenient. Looking forward to seeing you all,
Nic

It will be interesting to hear discussions around this but assuming the scope has two front mounted tilt tuned etalons it should be pretty straightforward. First tune the scope with the primary etalon and then attach the DS unit and tune to move the “ghost” image off the disk for the highest contrast. My 60mm Lunt has the internal tilt tune and the front mounted DS etalon and once tuned only needs adjustment very rarely.
