Finally back at it! 6/8/2023

Post by rigel123 »

I thought this animation would turn out better but the smoke in the air messed it up a lot more than it appeared on the screen. The seeing was actually pretty good as evidenced by the SSM graph (ignore the beginning of the graph as the suns reflection off the pool in early morning really messes with it) but the transparency changed quite a bit during the 90 minutes of this animation. Everything got brighter and then lost contrast on the disk so I just blacked it out. I also missed resetting the Auto Capture for a 5 minute "blip" in the animation. Some nice activity out of that large quiescent prom though on the East Limb. I have two other animations to work on from later so will be interested to see how they turn out.

The animation seems to show a distinct "tornado like" rotation on the right.

Thanks everyone for the comments! Franco, you must be struggling with this smoke as well. Here it is deceiving as the sky appears clear but does have a haze about it early in the day.

Fabulous animation today. I caught some of it visually with my quark. Looking forward to better eye-ball viewing after my cataract surgery next week.

Thanks James. This little Lunt that I bought 12 years ago (time flies!) I’ve always felt was the pick of the litter with the etalon I ended up with.
