Jan 10th, 2024 White Light FD and some Close-ups

Post by alashahin »

It was a very fine "winter" morning today; clear blue sky, tempreture about 20C (68F), the birds enjoying themselves and best of all: Very good seeing!

Managed to take full disk white light and few close-ups.

First, the full disk white light:

Lomo 80mm F7.5 Apo, Baader Herschel Wedge, ND1.8, Midopt Bi405 (405/30 nm), Player One Apollo-M MINI (IMX429), exposure 0.25ms, gain 72, 500 frames stacked, Drizzle 1.5x

I am happy with this FD; very uniform resolution across the disk, need to be displayed at 100% on a big screen to be appreciated though.

I will post the close-ups (with the MAK shown in the photo) later when I get them processed...

Splendid FD, Ala ! Nice location: just a little bit between the building and the tree ?

Franco, it's a small garden and we wanted trees...same flawed logic as BIG telescope on small mount, I guess!

AR3545, Meade ETX-125TB, Baader Film ND3.8, Midopt Bi450 (450/35nm), Nikon 1.6x Barlow, Player One Apollo-M MINI (IMX429), exposure 2ms, gain 220, 150 frames stacked.

The uncolored version, do no know which look better, what do you think?
Surprised that the granulation is so evident close to the limb; the seeing must been really good.

Beautiful Ala! I'll always take B&W over colorized but that's just my preference.

Superb resolution in both the spots and granulation. I would have guessed a scope larger than 125mm here. Very nice!! I like both the color and black and white images.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

James, the higher resolutions photos were shot at 450nm at ciritcal sampling allowing the 125mm MAK to have comparable resolution to a critically sampled 150mm shooting at 540nm (continuum filter), so your guess would have been about right...

I used 405nm in the FD and in the coming image trying to enhance faculae not resolution but I am not sure this MAK is well corrected at this wavelength, probably 450nm is the sweet spot for it.

Western limb, Meade ETX-125TB, Baader Film ND3.8, Midopt Bi405 (405/30nm), no Barlow (to have wider context), Player One Apollo-M MINI (IMX429), exposure 1ms, gain 150, 150 frames stacked.

And finally, AR3539, Meade ETX-125TB, Baader Film ND3.8, Midopt Bi450 (450/35nm), Nikon 1.6x Barlow, Player One Apollo-M MINI (IMX429), exposure 1.6ms, gain 220, 150 frames stacked.
