God’s cruel joke

Post by rbenton »

I drove over 2,000 miles to Junction, Texas. Despite forecasts of clouds, the day was sunny and clear with just some thin high clouds. Everything went beautifully until just about two minutes before totality. A bank of low dark clouds rolled in and obscured the sun until about three minutes after totality. Then clear skies the rest of the day.
I’ll try again in Spain in 2026.

Oh man, that hurts! Same thing happened to my brother when he took his family to Hawaii for his first total eclipse. Clouds until just after totality and then clear skies! Luckily, he has seen 5 since that time.

Oh   it just makes you want to scream :( I get that with ISS transits too :( it is heart breaking.

But, you have some fabulous partials :bow :bow :hamster:

My first eclipse it rained, but everything went dark and the crowds roared and everyone was taking photos. Then you could see the light coming in the distance. It was a totally different experience to 2017 when all I did was look up :)

Ouch!!!! That's really brutal.
The pictures you posted are terrific, though.

I started in Tx as well, but relocated to Ark after seeing worsening weather predictions

Sorry to hear that the weather messed with your plans too :(

The partial phase pics look great though...a small consolation at least ;)
