jHelioviewer (using SDO, SOHO,ESA data)

Post by Carbon60 »

I was made aware of this software just recently:

Superb for combining professional satellite solar image data from multiple sources into single images, or video sequences. Very interactive allowing specific times and locations to be selected all over the solar disk. By way of example, I've created an image using data from SDO at two wavelengths AIA171 and AIA304 in the UV. I selected a date and time when I was out imaging the Sun on my own scope as a reference point. The package allows control of the blend ratio and other parameters such as opacity, brightness and sharpness of the layers. The colours of the respective layers can also be modified to create your own unique look.

Great fun to use.

H-alpha, WL and Ca II K imaging kit for various image scales.
Fluxgate Magnetometers (1s and 150s Cadence).
Radio meteor detector.
