May 19th Sunshine

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I had Sunday to work at home and the backlog of jobs was long so I only worked on testing out an 8:, f5.6 Newtonian OTA that a friend lent me to try out for solar. I only did FD images through the Baader Continuum, Altair 2nm G-Band, and the Baader K-Line filters with a full aperture Baader OD5 filter. The camera was the ASI1600MM at prime focus. I have a piece of OD3.8 on its way to swap pout the visual grade but making do with what I have for now.

The images are posted below in the order of WL, G-Band, and K-Line is last:

I plan to see how this scope does in Ha once I get my Daystar Quantum back in a few weeks time...currently having the etalon replaced by them.

I did an image of the moon Sunday night as well, through the same scope/camera combo:

That's it from the weekend astronomy endeavors ;) I have to head back to work and face the mad rush for seed and fertilizer and try to find time later today to setup for a new batch of honey bees that I need homes for on Thursday.

Beautiful photos and a great telescope. I got the same idea on Saturday and took a picture of the moon shortly after sunset with my solar AR200 in H-a just at prime focus. Quite a surprising result.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.
