Early Morning NW Filaprom( animation added )

Post by Martin_S »

Good morning everyone, Peter alerted me to this amazing filaprom this morning. I'm trying to capture as much of it as possible , before some bad weather rolls in from the ocean.

That's a good image for so early in the morning Martin.
It has not even reached the limb yet.
It will make a great animation as well.
Cloud for me.

Great shot Martin! I’m wondering if that is two separate proms, one being a surge prom with a floating prom actually on the limb behind it. Should really be an interesting animation!

Thanks everyone for your comments, here is the animation from this morning. I only managed 38 mins as the seeing got progressively worse till the clouds rolled in.

And finally, to finish off, the clouds cleared somewhat in the afternoon, so I did some testing on my white light setup and caught this interesting
sunspot in the AR3685 region.

That animation turned out very well Martin
Warren called it right, as the animation shows.
I tried to capture it through the cloud and by then lt appeared to be suspended above the limb.
Recon you would be pleased with that result.

Super cool animation Martin! What a great line up of the two events to look like that floating prom is firing lightning bolts down to the surface!

I thought it were two proms, the floating prom and surge prom and the timelapse animation nailed it :bow :hamster: :movie
The first image does look like a nuclear bomb though :)

These are really nice Martin. At one point the prominence looks like a nuclear cloud! But in a way it is. The Sun after all is powered by nuclear fusion!

Thanks everyone for your comments, the SPOD was an added bonus.
AR3663 is re-appearing so we might be lucky enough to see some more action.
