Desperately Seeking Sunlight

Post by GeorgeIonas »

I'm getting to grips with the Antlia 5 angstrom CaK filter and how to process the images. The sun was low in the late afternoon when a gap in the clouds opened up. The sun was only 15 degrees above the horizon and I would get the occasional silhouette of a branch from the neighbor's tree on the captured video. Hence in the full solar disc image shows some slight variation in intensity in the 18 frame mosaic. The two other images are of active region AR3690 coming into view on the sun's eastern limb and AR3679 going behinds the sun's western limb.

Image details: TS-102mm SD f/11 scope, Antlia Cak 5 angstrom filter, images captured with Zwo's ASI120mm-s camera and closeups using ROI.

It looks like clear skies here on Sunday so more tests will be done.

George
