Vixen VC200L as a solar telescope? 26.05.

Post by pupak »

Sky full of clouds so I tried an experiment.
I have the VC200, so I mounted the DERF 180mm on it, made it F10 and tried shooting with the TZ4x at F40 and the TZ3x at F30. The conditions were terrible, so maybe the results would have been a bit better if they were better, but I feel that the VC200 is not an ideal device for solar use.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

It's not exactly bad, but it's not much for a 180mm aperture. Brutal central obstruction seems to play a big role here. I'm not giving up yet and I'm printing the DERF mount to try when the seeing is better.
It's just an informative test. Maybe the knowledge will be useful to someone.
